Curly Birch Puukko With Saami Inspired Stlye Sheath
#short #puukko
Puukko with a Puronvarsi blade, brass bolster, acrylester spacer and curly birch handle.
The sheath is inspired by the Saami style knives. Instead of the traditional reindeer antler for the sheath, I used some curly birch dyed white.
Thanks for watching ;-)

Making a Traditional Finnish "Puukko" Knife from a Puronvarsi blade
Переглядів 78 тис.3 роки тому
For this video I wanted to make myself a simple puukko with a traditional "old school" shape like the ancient Marttiini knife but slightly modernised. I used a Puronvarsi Tommi shape blade 100mm, the bolster is copper and the handle material is curly birch dyed white to give it a more modern and design look. The sheath is relatively traditional looking as well. I wanted to have a knife in the s...
Making a Petroglyph Inspired Puukko
Переглядів 100 тис.3 роки тому
In this video, I am making a Finnish style knife (puukko) with a Puronvarsi blade I bought. I wanted to try some copper etching this time and as an inspiration for the design I was thinking about something ancient like bronze age scanidanvian petroglyphs. So the for the handle I chose some ancient bog oak, copper sheets, and reindeer antler. The blade is a 125mm Puronvarsi. Everything I've done...
Sami inspired knife - video presentation
Переглядів 3,8 тис.3 роки тому
In this short video you'll see a presentation of one of my latest knife : a Sami inspired puukko. I tried to experiment the traditionnal Saami knife shape with this sort of pommel. I also tried to make some carvings again but it doesn't turn out as good as on the previous one. I think the reindeer antler was too porous and also I need more practice. The blade is a Puronvarsi 125cm, the handle i...
Birch bark Puukko - video presentation

This is just a video presentation of a birch bark puukko I made with a Puronvarsi blade. It was the first time I'm making a traditional shaped puukko and using birch bark. I'll probably make another one, one day and filming the process. These type of handles are really comfortable ! I highly recommand. Blade : Puronvarsi 100mm Bolster and cap : Brass Handle material : Stacked birch bark Sheath ...

Knife making is my hobby and I like to learn new stuff and sharing the process with others. So in every new video I try to experiment new things and implement them. This time I wanted to try : antler...
Making a Japanese Chef's Knife (Gyuto)

In this video you'll see the process of making a Japanese chef's knife with a Gyuto shape blade. The handle is made out of cow horn and maple. The sheath is maple and ebony veneer and the blade is damascus steele. This is the first time I'm making a cooking knife and I wanted to try out making a wooden sheath. Making a Gotland Viking Damascus Knife
Переглядів 32 тис.4 роки тому
In this video I am making a Viking knife with a damascus blade I bought. This is not historically accurate it is just an inspiration of the style of knives found in Gotland, Sweden. This is the first time I am doing a sheath with small rivets and brass parts. It has been fun and challenging and I'm surely going to practice more and incorporate brass parts in my futur projects. If you have any q...
Making Bison Bone Leather Stamps

After seeing some pictures of bone leather stamps made by the amazing knifemaker @Storm3dknives, I decided to craft some myself. I had a Bison leg bone since a while in my workshop as I like to collect all types of natural stuff, I used it to make the stamps. If you liked the video don't hesitate to give it a thumbs up and subscribe for more content :)

Making a Finnish Saami puukko
Переглядів 80 тис.4 роки тому
Here I show you the process of making a Saami inspired puukko knife. It has a 12cm Tommi Puronvarsi blade. This is the second puukko I made and my second video too. I really enjoyed making both. There are still a few flaws but I'm learning from them and it allows me to do better for my next projects. Stay tuned for even more videos and don't hesitate to comment.

In this video you will see me make two knives out of Japanese blades I bought on Dictum.de. It's a mix between Japanese and Scandinavian type of knife. The whole process took me about a year, from the making of the two knives until the editing of the video. I hope you enjoy it. More knife videos should follow. Don't hesitate to ask or comment.

Very nice work! But, it is a knife, a tool...and your video although well produced was like reading a book only to find out the last chapter was missing. You might think of incorporating some carving tasks at the end of you videos. It is a beautiful blade, but in the end a blade is a tool and it would be appropriated to demonstrate how your tool functions. Thank you.
